Jackson and Lauren watch as the water filled with sin (food coloring drops) becomes clean when the Jesus jar is poured in.
Jesus loves us too much to allow us to stay in our sin.

Day 2 Connection Icon: cleaning supplies
On Day 2 of our family 2 Weeks 2 the Cross journey, we learned that Jesus went to His house, the Temple, when He entered Jerusalem. It was supposed to be a place of worship, where God was honored. Instead, we read in Mark 11:15-19 that it had become a place of dishonest business, full of sinful practices.
Jesus took action and cleaned house. It was to be a house of prayer, not a den of thieves!
In the Bible, our hearts are described as the Temple of the Holy Spirit. Jesus wants our hearts to be clean, just as He wanted the Temple to be clean.
To understand this more, we did a science experiment to show how Jesus cleans our hearts.
After we finished the demonstration, we had to repeat it! Each of us went around the circle and named sins we’ve struggled with. Then, we put food coloring drops in the water. The water became black with all the sin. Then we prayed together, and asked Jesus to forgive us and to make us clean. We poured our Jesus jar into the black sin, and it became clear!
(To do this experiment with your family, fill one jar with water and the cleansing jar with a 1:3 ratio of vinegar to bleach.)
