Jumping jacks

Christmas Countdown Day 19 focused on shepherds. The shepherds wasted no time in going to Bethlehem to see what the angel proclaimed to them. And after they found Jesus, they couldn’t keep this amazing experience to themselves. They had to tell everyone! Joy overflowed their hearts, and they praised God! We created our own “shepherd jumping jacks” to help us remember how the shepherds honored God that night (watch the video above to see Jackson in action). With arms out to the side, the shepherds shared the good news, and with arms reaching up, they worshipped their wonderful God.

Christmas Countdown Day 18 focused on the angels. When the shepherds were in the fields, the heavens opened, and an angel announced the great news that the Messiah had been born. Then, the heavenly hosts filled the skies, praising God for what He had done and what He would do here on earth. Jackson and Lauren decided to dress up to retell this amazing scene. After they were in costume, Jackson came to the shepherds and shared the message that Jesus was here and in the stable wrapped in swaddling clothes. Then Lauren appeared too, and they made up a song to worship God and proclaim God’s peace. We talked about why the angels decided to light up the sky that night: to share the Good News about Jesus and to praise God. We decided that this Christmas, we could join the angels in their mission: to fill the earth with God’s message and the skies with His praises. We prayed that we would take the opportunities that God gives us to share the wonderful news with others that Jesus came to save us, and that we would look for ways to praise our great God.
