One Sunday afternoon at lunch, Matt was talking with our son Jackson about his Bible lesson at church. Jackson told us every detail he could remember about Moses going up the mountain and God writing the commandments on stone.
Matt then asked Jackson if he could list the 10 Commandments.
Jackson paused, thought hard, and then responded, “You tell me Dad, and then I’ll do them.”
I’m not sure that Jackson realized what beautiful faith was displayed in his response.
It’s the kind of heart I want to show to my Heavenly Father. It is that simple trust that chooses to obey, without question, because the One who commands created me.
Teach me, O Lord, to follow your decrees; then I will keep them to the end. Give me understanding, and I will keep your law and obey it with all my heart. Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight.
