Scripture Crumb from Psalm 57: 7-11
My heart is confident, God, my heart is confident.
I will sing; I will sing praises.
Wake up, my soul!
Wake up, harp and lyre!
I will wake up the dawn.
I will praise You, Lord, among the peoples;
I will sing praises to You among the nations.
For Your faithful love is as high as the heavens;
Your faithfulness reaches the clouds.
God, be exalted above the heavens;
let Your glory be over the whole earth.
Mornings aren’t my thing. Usually, I’d rather stay in bed an extra few (or 20) minutes and wait for the kids to come in and snuggle than get up and be ready to get the show started.
Especially on dreary, rainy, unseasonably cool spring mornings like today, it’s hard to drag myself out of bed.
Reading this psalm of David this morning challenged me. He can’t wait for the sun to rise, for a new day to begin! His heart is so filled with God’s praises, he bursts in love for His God before the morning breaks. He so longs to vocally and wholeheartedly worship God, He sets out to wake up the dawn.
David has experienced the goodness and faithfulness of God, in the midst of his troubles, and yearns to exalt and honor His redeemer!
If the night is meant to rest, the day is meant to worship!
Even if I need some encouragement in the mornings, this is what I want my heart’s cry to be. I want to wake up knowing that Jesus is alive! God has chosen me to praise His name among the nations!! God’s faithful love has and will continue to transform me, and He intends to showcase His glory through me. Wake up, my soul!!!
We have a good God, and it is a good morning!
