The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;

they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.

Today I am thankful that God’s mercies are new every morning!

Most mornings I don’t want to get out of bed. I’d rather be snug and warm under the covers. It takes a good while for me to acclimate to morning activities and the constant chatter of my daughter, who usually appears on my side of the bed well before any alarms are set.

Even though I am dragging, God’s faithfulness is not. His great love is ready to warm my soul and His grace prepared to hold me close as I get the kids ready for school.

God’s mercies are brand new every morning. They aren’t on repeat, playing the same verse over and over. God brews His mercy fresh when I open my eyes to face the day. And, His mercy just keeps coming, even when I’m running late because I pushed the snooze button a few extra times.

God is steadfast. His love never ends. And when I can’t see it, I need to believe it even more. No matter the circumstances surrounding me or the darkness of the world pressing in, God’s mercies come up with the sun.
