Wash, dry, fold, put away, repeat
There are weeks for me when writing doesn’t take center stage. In fact, it’s hard to even find the stage under the piles of laundry, dirty dishes and a myriad other responsibilities crowding in on my attention.
So, now that it’s Thursday, in the midst of a million other things I could and should be doing, I’m jumping on the blog because maybe your week has been much like mine.
The other day as I was folding a load of laundry that had been sitting in a basket for an undisclosed amount of days (sound familiar??), God gave me a dash of encouragement. Doing the little things God has given me is a way I can show love to Him. Sure, I’m folding laundry and picking up toys and loading and reloading the dishwasher again because that’s just what needs to be done for my family and my sanity. But, I’m also loving God in the midst of it. He gave me the most wonderful husband and blessed us with two amazing kids, and our home and ministries and a host of opportunities to serve God and love people. When I take care of what He has given me and work hard for His Kingdom, even the small ways, I am pleasing my Heavenly Father. He notices and cares about what others may take for granted.
Whatever work you do, do it with all your heart. Do it for the Lord and not for men.
– Colossians 3:23
Some days may seem more overloaded than others. Life’s responsibilities can be exhausting, frustrating and sometimes monotonous. Often our proverbial plates are stacked so high we can’t see around it for perspective.
Take a moment and be thankful. God gives much to those He believes are capable.
He believes in you, and me.
Let’s honor Him today with our effort.
