Yesterday, Matt was having a teachable moment with our son Jackson about trust.
He was explaining that when you are trustworthy, you keep your word. For example, Matt said, if he offered Jackson a piece of cake, but then gave him broccoli instead, that would be wrong. We need to do what we say we are going to do.
It’s much like the story in the Bible of the Father giving every good gift in Luke 11:11-13.
“You fathers—if your children ask for a fish, do you give them a snake instead? Or if they ask for an egg, do you give them a scorpion? Of course not! So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him.”
Matt asked Jackson if he understood.
Jackson’s eyes lit up with anticipation and he asked, “Daddy, can I have cake?!”
