Kool-Aid ’stache

Kool-Aid is a hot commodity in our house, and it never lasts very long.

I can always tell when Jackson has been drinking Kool-Aid because of the huge red stain around his mouth that he wears for the rest of the day.

Can you tell what Jackson was drinking?

I’d like that kind of stain on my life after drinking the living water Jesus speaks of with the Samaritan woman at the well. What if I gulped down the Word of God in such a way that everyone I met that day knew what I had been drinking?

Jackson’s punch-colored lips remind me that my life is marked. I need not hide my love for Jesus or sip His grace so stingily that my life bears no obvious change. Moses was so affected by being in the very presence of God that He actually glowed!

Many groups in our nation proudly shout out their allegiance to political and social causes, demanding that they are heard, respected and accepted. Meanwhile, a great many Christian voices remain silent, not because of laws or social etiquette, but of our own accord.

I pray for the courage to stand up as Paul did and proclaim, “I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation for those who believe!” My life needs to stand out, stained by Christ’s forgiveness and restoration that only He could extend through death on a cross.

The transformation of my heart and life by the ongoing work of Jesus Christ should be much more obvious than my son’s Kool-Aid ’stache.
