After a doctor’s visit yesterday, Jackson was full of ideas and decided he wanted to become a doctor. Since I was the only other person in the house at the time who would sit still and play along, I became his patient. He looked in my ears, and at my throat. I even got a shot! Finally, he got out his stethoscope and “listened” to my heart.
“Mommy,” Jackson exclaimed, “I can hear your heart!!”
“What does it sound like?” I asked.
“Mommy, it is saying that you love me!” Jackson replied without skipping a beat.
His answer still makes my heart smile.
God loves me just like I love my Jackson. He desires for me to examine his eyes and see the world through His lenses. He invites me to hear His call and understand how He cares and responds to my prayers.
Jesus longs for me to climb up in his lap, listen to His heartbeat and feel the extent of His love.
This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His One and Only Son into the world that we might live through Him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
